Suspected drunk driver crashes into laundromat

A suspected drunk driver is in custody after she crashed into a parked vehicle and a laundromat near downtown Los Angeles, authorities said.

Police said a woman was speeding down Venice Boulevard just after midnight with three passengers in her black Honda Accord when she lost control, crossed over several lanes and hit a parked van.

The impact of that crash was strong enough to deploy both airbags inside the van.

The car then barreled into a laundromat at Venice Boulevard and Magnolia Avenue. The driver and her three passengers were taken to an area hospital. A 17-year-old passenger was the most seriously injured, authorities said.

Police believe the driver's blood alcohol level may have been twice the legal limit. She will be booked for DUI, police said.

No one inside the laundromat was hurt.
