Suspected car thief jumps from rooftop to rooftop in Westwood

A suspected car thief was on the rooftops of Westwood homes Thursday morning after fleeing from police

A suspected car thief was on the rooftops of Westwood homes Thursday morning after fleeing from police.

The incident began when a Los Angeles police officer was following a car just before 8 a.m. and identified its license plates as belonging to a stolen vehicle, said LAPD Officer Norma Eisenman. After the officer tried to pull the car over, the suspect left the vehicle and escaped on foot, she said.

At some point, the suspect, dressed in black, hopped onto the roof of a home in Westwood, according to KTLA-TV. As of 8:20 a.m., broadcast images from above showed the man hopping from rooftop to rooftop.
