Son arrested in slaying of extreme sports entrepreneur [Updated]

This post has been corrected. See details below.

The son of Skim X extreme sports entrepreneur Christopher D. Northam was arrested in connection with his father's slaying last year.

Christopher Jon Michael Northam, 25, was arrested this week after an eight-month investigation.

Christopher Northam was found dead from multiple gunshot wounds inside the Skim X building in Roseville on May 30, 2011.

During the investigation, officers served several search warrants, including at the son’s home and other locations. After examining financial records, detectives concluded the younger Northam killed his father for financial gain.

The younger Northam was booked into the Placer County Jail without bail on suspicion of murder.

His former wife Averill Elizabeth Easley also was arrested on charges of being an accessory after the fact.

Both will appear in court Friday.

For the record, 6:23 p.m.: A previous version of this post incorrectly named Skim X as Slim X and said Northam was a diet entrepreneur.
