Decapitated trees: Driving near Palm Springs in January, Colleen Riemer spotted this curious grove of palm trees. "The grouping looked so eerie along the 10 Freeway, the seemingly healthy palm trees standing beside their headless brethren," she said. "It almost looked like they'd been in a battle and only a few survivors remained!"
