Pedestrian killed by train in downtown San Diego

A man was hit and killed by a northbound Amtrak train in downtown San Diego on Wednesday morning, police said.

The accident occurred about 6:30 a.m. in the Little Italy section of downtown.

Train service has been halted while an investigation is underway. The man may have been a transient, officials said.
