Miracle Mile shooting leaves one injured, school on lock-down

Officers are searching for a suspect in a shooting in the Fairfax area that left a man injured Monday afternoon.

The victim was shot about 1:45 p.m. near the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and La Brea Avenue, and a male suspect was seen running from the area, according to Officer Gregory Baek of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Officers have set up a perimeter from La Brea to Mansfield Avenue and from Wilshire  to 8th Street in hopes of catching the suspect, Officer Alonzo Howell of the LAPD's Wilshire station said.

John Burroughs Middle School on Wilshire has been on lockdown since shortly before 2:30 p.m., according to a woman who answered the phone there. No information was immediately available about whether the shooting incident was school-related.

The victim’s condition was not immediately known.
