Marines from Camp Pendleton are in Thailand for Cobra Gold, a training exercise with military personnel from Thailand and five other countries in the region.

Marines from the 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment have deployed to the annual exercise as part of the Japan-based 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit.

The training covers amphibious assault, humanitarian relief, evacuation of friendly forces and jungle survival, which includes learning to eat insects and to drink, yes, the blood from cobras.
