Marine wife killed in explosion at housing complex

The Marine Corps has identified the person killed by a propane explosion at a housing complex near the Mountain Warfare Training Center in northern California as the 31-year-old wife of a Marine gunnery sergeant.

Lori Hardin, of Hudson, Iowa, was killed Friday night in an explosion and fire at the housing complex at Coleville in Mono County. Hardin's husband, Gunnery Sgt. Greg Hardin, 34, of Tuolumne, Calif., and the couple's two children were not injured.

Two other residents of the housing complex were  burned. One was airlifted to a hospital in Reno and has been treated and released. The other was airlifted to the burn unit at the UC Davis hospital in Sacramento and remains in critical condition.

Their names were not released.

The 111-unit complex provides housing for the families of Marines assigned to the training center at Bridgeport on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada.
