A half-marathon was scheduled to close many roads in Pasadena this morning, including parts of West Colorado Boulevard, East Green Street and South Lake Avenue.

About 7,000 runners were expected to begin their race at 7:30 a.m., following a route that begins and ends at the Rose Bowl, with a course that runs over the Colorado Bridge, Old Town Pasadena and around the Brookside Golf Course. A concert featuring Sugar Ray will be held at the finish line.

The proceeds from the Rock 'n' Roll Pasadena Half Marathon will benefit a charity called CureMito, which funds awareness of mitochondrial disease, a disorder in which the cells of a patient cannot efficiently turn sugar and oxygen into energy.
