Earthquake: 3.4 quake strikes near Brawley

A shallow magnitude 3.4 earthquake was reported Wednesday morning four miles from Brawley, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 11:05 a.m. Pacific time at a depth of 13.7 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was six miles from Imperial, nine miles from El Centro and 91 miles from Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico.

In the last 10 days, there has been one earthquake magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
