Earthquake: 3.0 quake strikes near Coso Junction

A shallow magnitude 3.0 earthquake was reported Sunday afternoon 15 miles from Coso Junction in Inyo County, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 12:27 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 3.7 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 20 miles from Inyokern, 21 miles from Ridgecrest and 132 miles from downtown Los Angeles.

In the past ten days, there has been one earthquake magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
