February 10, 2012 |  9:46 am

A convicted drunk driver crashed his pickup truck into a condominium in Escondido in a crash that left the homeowner in critical condition.

The 23-year-old Temucula man, whose name was not immediately available, was in custody on suspicion of drunk driving, Escondido police said. He has a previous DUI conviction, said Lt. Tom Albergo.

The crash on Eveningside Glen occurred about 7:30 p.m. Thursday, said Escondido police Lt. Tom Albergo.

The motorist was driving eastbound on Country Club Lane when his vehicle struck a curb, ran over an electrical transformer and crashed through the back patio of the condo, which sits on Eveningside Glen, Albergo said in a statement.

A 14-year-old girl inside the condo suffered minor injuries in the crash, but her father, who was on the patio, ended up pinned under the pickup and was critically injured Albergo said, adding that firefighters extricated him from the wreckage and transported him to a hospital with a broken leg, a concussion and facial injuries.

Two other family members inside the home were uninjured, he said.
