Chino teacher arrested on suspicion of lewd acts with child [Updated]

A Chino elementary school teacher suspected of lewd acts with a child was arrested this week, according to booking information from the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner's Department.

Chino police arrested Roger Wayne Talley, 53, of Upland on Monday. Talley is a fifth-grade teacher at Walnut Avenue Elementary School in the Chino Valley Unified School District.

Talley was released on bail Tuesday.

Talley's arrest marks the latest in a flurry of arrests of Los Angeles-area schoolteachers and employees  in recent weeks. Officials said they believe the cases were a result of increased awareness following the high-profile arrest of teacher Mark Berndt at Miramonte Elementary School.

[Updated, Aug. 22, 2013: The San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office decided not to prosecute Talley. Talley was granted a declaration of factual innocence by a San Bernardino County Superior Court judge on July 5, 2013.]
