Earthquake: 3.0 quake rattles near Cartago

A shallow magnitude 3.0 earthquake was reported Wednesday evening 17 miles from Cartago, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 11:33 p.m. Pacific Standard Time at a depth of 2.5 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 18 miles from Olancha, 24 miles from Coso Junction, 28 miles from Lone Pine and 150 miles from the Los Angeles Civic Center.

In the last 10 days, there has been one earthquake magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
