Woman who allegedly cut off husband's penis faces life in prison

A woman accused of cutting off her husband's penis with a 10-inch kitchen knife was ordered held and will face charges in court Monday, Orange County prosecutors announced Thursday.

Catherine Kieu Becker has been indicted on one felony count of torture and one felony count of aggravated mayhem, according to a press release from the Orange County district attorney's office. Becker faces a sentencing enhancement for alleged "personal use of a knife." if convicted of all counts, she faces life in prison, the district attorney's office said.

According to police, Becker and her husband had been married for a year and a half. Court records show they began divorce proceedings in May. The record suggests that the husband initiated the divorce.

In July 2011, officers arrived at a home in the 14000 block of Flower Street after the woman called 911. Officers arrived and found a man tied to a bed, bleeding from his crotch, according to Garden Grove police.

Becker, 48,  told police that she had drugged her husband’s dinner to make him sleepy, then tied him to the bed.

As he awoke, she cut off his penis with a knife, tossed the body part in the garbage disposal and turned the disposal on, Becker told police.

She will probably enter a plea Monday in a Santa Ana courthouse.
