Woman suspected of cutting off husband's penis due in court

Catherine Becker

A woman accused of cutting off her husband’s penis with a 10-inch kitchen knife and tossing it into the garbage disposal is expected to appear Monday in a Santa Ana courtroom to answer charges.

Catherine Kieu Becker, 49, faces charges of aggravated mayhem, torture and infliction of great bodily harm in the July incident at the couple’s Garden Grove home.

Becker, police allege, drugged her husband during dinner, tied him to a bed and attacked him.

Police said they recovered rope and a sharp knife from the home. The couple had been married for 1 1/2 years and had begun divorce proceedings in May. Becker’s husband, 60, survived the attack.

If convicted, Becker faces up to life in state prison for the charge of aggravated mayhem. She is being held in lieu of a $2-million bail.
