2 dead, 1 wounded in Torrance standoff

Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man suspected of stabbing two women to death and wounding another man, ending a tense standoff with authorities Sunday night.

The unidentified man had barricaded himself in an apartment in the 21800 block of South Vermont Avenue in Torrance, after L.A. County sheriff's deputies arrived after 8 p.m., according to Deputy Tony Moore.

Two hours later, deputies entered the apartment and arrested the man and discovered the two slain women and the wounded man, who was taken to a local hospital, Moore said.
