Deputies fire at man during traffic stop in Norwalk

January 10, 2012 |  7:28 am

Authorities searched Tuesday for a man whom deputies fired at after he fled the scene of a traffic stop in Norwalk.

An hours-long manhunt began about 3:30 a.m. in the 129000 block of Hoxie Avenue after deputies pulled over two men, said Sgt. Pauline Panis of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

One was detained and the other escaped on foot, according to a police report. Police did not say why they had pulled over the men.

Deputies fired at the man who ran, but it was unknown if he was struck, authorities said.

Deputies set up a containment area and blocked off minor residential streets in the area, authorities said.
