Police officer fatally shoots man outside Sun Valley home

A Los Angeles police officer responding to a report of a gunman in a Sun Valley neighborhood early Sunday shot and killed a man outside a home, authorities said.

The man, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene on the 7700 block of Ethel Avenue, the LAPD said. The officer was not hurt.

Few other details were available as police investigated the incident.
