Stolen Prius leads police through West L.A., up PCH before crashing

A suspected car thief took police on a tour of Los Angeles' Westside early Tuesday morning during a chase of a stolen white Toyota Prius.

The chase began about 2:15 a.m. when police spotted the car near the intersection of Culver and Inglewood boulevards in Marina Del Rey.

From there, a pursuit began, with police tailing the car through West L.A., into Santa Monica and up the Pacific Coast Highway.

About an hour into the chase the driver crashed into a gate near the Getty Villa in Pacific Palisades, then fled the vehicle, leading police on a foot pursuit before he was captured

The man, who had minor injuries from the altercation with police, was booked on suspicion of grand theft auto. Police said two officers also had minor injuries from the incident.
