Homeless man arrested in Pasadena debris fires

January 19, 2012 |  6:32 pm

A 27-year-old homeless man is in Pasadena police custody after being arrested on suspicion of arson in connection with at least two of nine small debris fires across the city since late December, fire investigators said.

Juan Boch was arrested Thursday. The fires occurred between Dec. 27 and Jan. 5 in and around the 210 Freeway and parts of West Pasadena, said Lisa Derderian, a Pasadena Fire Department spokeswoman.

Boch allegedly set fire to piles of debris accumulated during the recent windstorms that devastated Pasadena's trees. Derderian said investigators are examining whether he is connected to all nine of the fires that occurred under similar circumstances.

Boch was arrested after witnesses told arson investigators he was the man they saw igniting two of the small fires.
