Man calls police over ex-wife's 'slanderous' Facebook postings

January 10, 2012 | 10:56 am

Police in the Central Valley town of Tracy are used to taking a lot of unusual crime reports.

But this weekend, they got something new: "A caller reported that his former wife was writing slanderous remarks about him on Facebook," according to the Police Department log. The exact nature of the postings was not available.

Department officials rolled their eyes at the complaint.

“Primarily in the school system where people have reported things that they're going to do or heard about and we've used that as an investigative tool, but this was a new one for us,” Sgt. Tony Sheneman said. “There’s really nothing criminally that can be done.”

Authorities said they are not investigating but had some advice for the ex-hubsand: “If he still has her as a friend, I would recommend that he unfriend her, block from her from being able to contact him,” said Sheheman.
