Man arrested in Glendale for allegedly driving without pants
Police said a 34-year-old man arrested Thursday for allegedly driving around Glendale naked from the waist down claimed he did so because it gave him a sense of “freedom.”
During the ensuing investigation, however, police say they determined that the man, Umar Khan of Glendale, often drives around the city at night or early morning hours looking for a cul-de-sac or home driveway to park in and masturbate, Glendale Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz told the Glendale News-Press.
Khan was convicted of indecent exposure in 1998, according to Los Angeles County Superior Court records.
Glendale officers arrested him about 2:23 a.m. Thursday on the 1300 block of Doverwood Drive, after patrolling officers noticed he failed to yield at a stop sign on Royal Boulevard, according to police reports.
After officers approached Khan’s blue, four-door 2004 Honda Accord, they noticed he wasn’t wearing pants or underwear, according to their report.
He was arrested on suspicion of indecent exposure, possessing methamphetamine and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
