Anaheim police arrest burglary suspect after freeway chase

January 3, 2012 |  3:07 pm

Anaheim police arrested a suspected burglar Tuesday after a chase that took officers on and off the 5 Freeway and ended with the driver crashing his vehicle into a big rig.

Police attempted to pull over the suspect shortly before 10 a.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Euclid Street and Chapman Avenue in Anaheim. Police said the man, who wasn't identified, was suspected in a burglary, but officials did not have details of the alleged crime.

The suspect fled police and drove northbound on the 5 into Los Angeles County. He exited and re-entered the freeway multiple times before heading down Carmenita Road in Santa Fe Springs, where he collided with a big rig, authorities said.

The suspect and a female passenger were both taken to a hospital. The driver of the truck wasn't injured. The man was booked on suspicion of felony evasion; the woman passenger was not taken into custody.
