Longshoreman dies after being crushed at Port of Long Beach

This container fell on a longshoreman at the Port of Long Beach
A longshoreman died Thursday night when he was crushed by a huge storage container at the Port of Long Beach.

The accident occurred about 7 p.m., and crews from the Long Beach Fire Department responded, according to a report on  KTLA-TV Channel 5.

The container was apparently being moved by a crane when it fell. The accident was being investigated by the port's Harbor Patrol late Thursday.

No additional details were immediately available.
