Human skull with gunshot wound found with other skeletal remains

Human skeletal remains were found in this area on Lopez Canyon Road.
Human skeletal remains, including a skull with a gunshot wound, have been found in an unincorporated area near Lake View Terrace, authorities said Wednesday evening.

The remains were found Tuesday on Lopez Canyon Road near Baily Road, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.

While conducting their investigation, homicide detectives found a handgun near the remains.  The cause of death will be determined by the Los Angeles County coroner's office.

No additional details were immediately available.
