Body of missing hiker, 24, found near Hemet
A 24-year-old hiker was found dead Friday in the Santa Rosa Hills east of Hemet after becoming ill the day before, authorities said.
Rescue crews found the body of Vladislav Lesnik, of Hemet, after an all-night search on the southwest trails of Simpson Park, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Lesnik and another man had been hiking in the wilderness Thursday evening when Lesnik became ill, authorities said. The other hiker made his way back to alert park officials but was unfamiliar with the terrain and was unable to lead rescue crews to his friend’s location, according to a statement released by the sheriff’s department.
Mountain rescue units and search dogs scoured the area overnight. Lesnik’s body was found at 7:30 a.m. Friday.
No foul play is suspected in the hiker’s death, sheriff’s officials said.
