Earthquake: 3.5 temblor strikes near Coachella

A shallow, magnitude 3.5 earthquake was reported Saturday afternoon seven miles from Coachella, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 5:59 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 1.2 miles.

According to the Geological Survey, the epicenter was 10 miles from Indio, 11 miles from Mecca, 27 miles from Palm Springs and 91 miles from San Diego.

In the last 10 days, there have been two earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
