Earthquake: 3.0 quake strikes near Isla Vista

A shallow magnitude 3.0 earthquake was reported Thursday evening, three miles from Isla Vista, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 6:14 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 4.3 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was three miles from Goleta, six miles from Mission Canyon, six miles from downtown Santa Barbara and 92 miles from the Los Angeles Civic Center.

In the last 10 days, there has been one earthquake magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
