Man shot in head in Downey

Downey police are searching for three men who allegedly shot a man in the head, leaving him in critical condition Tuesday morning after a possible home invasion.

Police found the man outside an apartment building in the 9200 block of Elm Vista Drive, near Bellflower Boulevard, about 11:54 p.m. Monday with a single gunshot wound to the head, said Sgt. Kevin McAster of the Downey Police Department.

The man was taken to a hospital in critical condition, McAster said.

There was sign of forced entry to an apartment unit, and police said the victim may have been shot after chasing the suspects outside, KTLA reported.

Police said three men fled in a white vehicle down Bellflower Boulevard.
