Woman killed, man injured in Compton shooting

Compton homicides
A woman died and a man was wounded Tuesday night in a shooting in Compton.

The shooting was reported shortly before 9:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of South Kemp Avenue, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and the man was taken to a hospital. His condition was not available.

Homicide detectives were being dispatched to the scene. No additional details were immediately available.

Since January 2007, at least 156 homicides have been reported in Compton, according to a Times Homicide Report database.
