Firefighters battle big commercial blaze in Paramount

January 30, 2012 |  9:17 am

A large structure fire Monday sent billowing plumes of smoke into the air near the 710 freeway in Paramount, fire officials said.

Los Angeles County firefighters reported about 8 a.m. to the fire in a concrete tilt-up building on South Orange Avenue, between Motz and Marcell streets.

More than half of the 75-feet by 300-feet building was in flames, but no one has been injured, fire officials said. Smoke could be seen for miles.

Firefighters are still battling the blaze, and officials have not yet determined who owns the building.
