2 children hurt when drunk mother crashes car, police allege

A Costa Mesa woman was drunk when she crashed her car with three children inside, injuring two of them, Laguna Beach police said.

Abigail Wilson, 31, is facing charges of willful cruelty to a child, driving under the influence, an excessive blood-alcohol level and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription. according to police.

Police received reports around 8 p.m. Saturday that a suspected drunk driver was headed into town on Laguna Canyon Road. Before officers arrived at the scene, Wilson’s vehicle had crossed into opposing traffic and hit another vehicle, Sgt. Louise Callus told Times Community News.

Wilson had three of her children in the vehicle, two of whom suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene before being checked out at Mission Hospital Laguna Beach.
