1 person died in a 3-car collision on the 405 by Santa Monica Boulevard
At least one person died Tuesday night in a three-vehicle collision that snarled traffic on the 405 Freeway near Santa Monica Boulevard.

The accident forced officials to shut down southbound lanes and declare a SigAlert, the California Highway Patrol said.

The CHP reported all southbound lanes shut down shortly before 10 p.m. It was unclear when they would reopen.

The age and identity of the victim were not immediately known, the Los Angeles Fire Department said. No other injuries were reported.
