10-year-old boy suspected in fatal stabbing of 12-year-old

Deputies at scene in Lakeside where boy, 12, was fatally stabbed

A 10-year-old boy in Lakeside in eastern San Diego County is in the custody of the Sheriff's Department on suspicion of fatally stabbing a 12-year-old boy Monday morning, officials said.

The two boys were described as close friends; the victim's mother was home when the attack occurred in the driveway of the house, officials said.

No motive for the stabbing has been disclosed.
