Riverside County students held on drug-ring charges

Two dozen Riverside County high school students were arrested Thursday on suspicion of belonging to an alleged drug ring that sold illicit drugs on campus, authorities said.

Riverside County Sheriff’s Department deputies took the students into custody at Vista De Lago High School in Moreno Valley and Elsinore High School in Wildomar, according to a statement released Thursday.

Twelve students were arrested at each school. Many of the arrests occurred during morning classes.

During the investigation, authorities seized marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine, Ecstasy and prescription drugs.

While being taken into custody, seven students allegedly were found in possession of switchblade knives, marijuana, cocaine, Ecstasy or hydrocodone.

All the juveniles taken into custody were transported to Juvenile Hall in Riverside.
