Pepper spray discharged at West L.A. gym

This post has been corrected. See note at bottom for details.

Four people were treated at a West Los Angeles fitness club Friday after someone discharged pepper spray inside the building.

The four were treated at the scene -- the Equinox at Sepulveda Boulevard and Missouri Avenue.

It was unclear how the pepper spraying occurred, and it may have been accidental, said Cecil Manresa, spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.

An employee at the club did not have any details but said there had not been a fight.

[For the record, 4:40 p.m., Dec. 23: An earlier version of this post incorrectly identified the gym as the Sports Club/LA.]
