Woman threatens teen with weapon, barricades self in home

Authorities are negotiating with a woman who barricaded herself in her Northridge home Friday afternoon after she brandished a weapon during a dispute with a teenager.

SWAT team members were sent to the 8500 block of Vanalden Avenue about 3:30 p.m.,  Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman Norma Eisenman said.

She said no one had been injured, including the 17-year-old boy involved in the original dispute.

Eisenman said neighbors have been asked to remain indoors as the confrontation continues. No additional suspect information was immediately available.
