December 2, 2011 | 11:51 am

Trashcan
Authorities are searching for the mother of a dead infant found outside a Stanislaus County gas station by a man who was looking for aluminum cans.

The man, who made the grim discovery late Thursday, told authorities the baby’s body was wrapped in a blanket and appeared to be lifeless.

An autopsy was scheduled later Friday.

Authorities said the baby’s body was found near the Bait Barn tackle shop in Waterford, a small town outside Modesto.

Meanwhile, authorities said they are checking with local hospitals for records of recently pregnant women. Anyone with information is called to call Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636.
