Man sought for allegedly beating pregnant woman, killing fetus
Police searched Thursday for a 23-year-old Adelanto man accused of beating a pregnant woman unconscious and killing her 20-week-old fetus, authorities said.
Willie Davis Hines Jr., the father of the unborn child, fled the woman’s residence just before deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call shortly before 5 p.m. Wednesday, the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department said.
The 24-year-old woman, who was not identified, suffered major head and upper-body injuries and remained hospitalized in critical condition, authorities said.
According to sheriff’s officials, Hines and the woman were arguing just before she was found unconscious in her bedroom on the 14500 block of Blue Sage Road in Adelanto.
Shortly after she was airlifted to the hospital, the unborn fetus was declared dead.
Anyone with information about Hines’ whereabouts or the incident is asked to call Sgt. Carlos A. Espinoza or Det. Jerry Davenport at (909) 387-3589.
