Man attempted to sell stolen power tools on Craigslist, police say

A Los Angeles man was arrested yesterday after allegedly attempting to sell stolen power tools on Craigslist, police said.

Undercover police officers observed Julio Landeros, 24, make what appeared to be a suspicious transaction in the Empire Center on Thursday near Best Buy, Burbank police Sgt. Darin Ryburn said.

Unbeknown to the buyer, the power drill Landeros allegedly sold -- arranged through a Craigslist post -- was stolen, Ryburn said. Landeros was arrested on suspicion of possessing stolen property and on an unrelated warrant.

Detectives reported finding three additional stolen power tools at Landeros’ residence, all brand new and in boxes, Ryburn said. Based on the preliminary investigation, it appears the drills were stolen from multiple Home Depots in the San Gabriel Valley and valued at about $1,000.
