Malibu kayaker missing after calling 911 with chest pains

A search is underway for a kayaker who went missing off the Malibu coastline Thursday, shortly after he called 911 complaining of chest pains.

The man, whose name has not been released, called the Malibu Lost Hills Sheriff's Department Station at 3 p.m. Thirty minutes later, a Los Angeles County Fire Department lifeguard boat found an overturned kayak and his life vest about two miles off shore.

Lifeguard personnel and the U.S. Coast Guard searched the waters, but did not find the man. Sheriff's officials found that the kayak the man had rented had not been returned.

His car was also sitting in a nearby parking lot.
