Man dies in house fire in La Puente

December 27, 2011 |  8:12 am

A 73-year-old man died in a house fire in La Puente on Christmas Day.

The man, identified by coroner's officials Tuesday as Jim Clark, died in the fire in his home on the 1800 block of Aileron Avenue, authorities said.

Los Angeles County firefighters were dispatched to the house fire at 7:52 p.m. Sunday and had knocked it down by 8:09 p.m., but Clark was already dead inside the building, authorities said.

County fire Inspector Quvondo Johnson said the fire had started in the carport and was believed to be accidental, but the exact cause will be determined by the sheriff's bomb and arson squad.
