Hollywood arson fires: LAPD on alert after string of 19 incidents

Arson fires in Hollywood
The Los Angeles Police Department issued a citywide tactical alert Friday morning after a string of 19 arson fires in West Hollywood and Hollywood.

In total, four suspected arson incidents occurred in West Hollywood and 15 in Hollywood, including at the former home of late rock star Jim Morrison, police said. A number of the incidents were vehicle fires.

A tactical alert allows authorities to work officers past their shifts and to pull resources from other areas of the city to deal with imminent issues.

The Los Angeles Fire Department doubled the number of arson teams on call to four after firefighters scrambled overnight to put out the fires.
