O.C. hockey mom denies having sex with teen players
Kathia Maria Davis, 44, is charged with two felony counts of lewd acts on a child under 14 and four felony counts of unlawful sexual intercourse.
On Friday, Davis pleaded not guilty.
If convicted, she faces a maximum sentence of 12 years and eight months in state prison.
Davis, a divorced mother of three, is accused of molesting a 13-year-old boy and having unlawful sex with a 16-year-old boy. Both boys were associated with her son's hockey team, the Beach City Lightning, which plays in Anaheim and Laguna Niguel.
Prosecutors charge that she threw parties and plied them with alcohol.
Davis is accused of letting the 13-year-old boy in 2005 or 2006 drink alcohol in her home during a sleepover, prosecutors said. After her son and daughter went to sleep on the floor of the room they were all in, Davis kissed and fondled the 13-year-old boy, they charged.
According to prosecutors, the 16-year-old was also given alcohol during visits to Davis' Laguna Niguel home. She is charged with having sex with the boy four times at her home between July 1, 2010, and July 31, 2011, prosecutors said. Prosecutors alleged that two of her children were present in the house on some of those occasions.
The 16-year-old eventually told his mother about the alleged sexual contact and the family alerted Orange County Sheriff’s Department detectives, officials said.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Dist. Atty. Investigator Lou Gutierrez at (714) 347-8794.
