Drunk driver gets 13 years in prison for fatal accident

A South Gate man was sentenced Friday to 13 years in prison for killing two people in a drunk driving accident.

Anthony Louis Fragoso, 22, was driving the wrong way in the carpool lane of the 91 Freeway in Anaheim on Jan. 19 when he crashed head on into a Toyota Scion, killing driver Alan Reyes, 25, and passenger Vanessa Cease, 24.

Fragoso's blood alcohol level was almost three times the legal limit, prosecutors said. Witnesses estimated his speed at 85 to 90 mph.

Reyes and Cease were declared dead at the scene. Fragoso suffered major traumatic injuries.

Reyes and Cease were completing their education and had planned to marry, prosecutors said. Cease leaves a daughter, Jordan, 3.

At the sentencing, Cease's mother said Jordan likes the Dumbo ride at Disneyland because it brings her closer to her mother in heaven.
