Crash on 405 Freeway leaves one person critically injured [Updated]

At least one person is in critical condition after a three-car collision on the southbound 405 Freeway on Wednesday morning, authorities said.

The accident was reported at 4:30 a.m. just south of Getty Center Drive, said Ed Jacobs, public information officer at the California Highway Patrol.  At least two people received minor injuries and one was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

[Updated 7:10 a.m.: The crash involved six people and five were transported to a local hospital with injuries, according to Capt. Jaime Moore, public information officer at the Los Angeles Fire Department. A total of four vehicles were determined to be involved in the collision, including a sport utility van that was lodged in the center divider. The condition of the victims was not available.]

The wreck halted traffic while authorities worked to help the victims. All lanes were reopened by 6:30 a.m.
