24 high school students arrested in massive drug ring bust

Authorities in Riverside County arrested 24 students at two separate high schools -- some during morning classes -- during a raid on an alleged drug ring.

While being taken into custody, seven students allegedly were found in possession of switchblade knives, marijuana, cocaine, Ecstasy or hydrocodone.

Riverside County Sheriff’s Department deputies took the students into custody at Vista Del Lago High School in Moreno Valley and Elsinore High School in Wildomar, according to a statement released Thursday.

Twelve students were arrested at each school. Many of the arrests occurred during morning classes.

During the investigation, authorities seized marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine, Ecstasy and prescription drugs.

All the juveniles taken into custody were transported to Juvenile Hall in Riverside.
