Masked gunman shoots, robs motorist in Koreatown

Police searched Friday for a masked gunman who shot and robbed a woman in her car in Koreatown.

A man in a ski mask approached the 43-year-old woman as she drove her SUV near the intersection of Kingsley Drive and 7th Street around 11 p.m. Thursday, said Det. Luis Corona of the LAPD's Olympic station.

The man ran up to the woman's car and demanded her purse, then fired a shot, shattering the car window and wounding her in the leg, he said.

The gunman “took off running,” he said.

The woman was in stable condition.
