The collision near Riverside Drive and Gilroy Street occurred about 3:15 a.m., said Officer Robert Duke of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Traffic Division.

Duke said the woman was a single occupant, traveling at a high rate of speed.

“There's no indication of intoxication,” he said, adding that the preliminary investigation suggests the victim had fallen asleep.

A spokesman from the Los Angeles County coroner’s office said the woman was pronounced dead at 3:24 a.m. at Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center. The spokesman said his office has not received the body and has no further information.
